To see or NOT to see....

So I went to the eye doctor about 3 wks ago only to find out for the first time that you are not suppose to focus when your reading that eye chart....who knew!!! Which in turn means I'm blinder then I thought or knew....GREEAAAAAAAAAT!!! So I decided to try for contacts this go around...and 3wks have gone by and I'm not sure if I can do this!! I've long as I'm in a good mood...have mastered putting them into my eyeballs. The only problem now is my eyes itch, itch, itch and are super dry no matter how many drops I put in there. And when they get dry then I can't see shit...ugh! I just don't know if I am made for contacts. My cousin suggested getting some sensitive eye solution b/c I may be allergic to something in the regular stuff...So that I still have yet to try - blah!!

I then went to the eye glasses store in the mall to see how much it would be to get new lens put in my current frames and they said it would be $200.00 just for lens!!! I really like my frames and I have and do not see a point in changing but it seems like it would be cheaper to buy all new fames and lens b/c then they offer a discount.

Well time to get ready for another fun filled day at work!!!

Wishing I was on Staycation!

This summer has been a real scorcher here in Oklahoma. It seems like its is either raining or steamy hot outside. Yesterday I went a laid out for the first time this summer at my mom's apartment pool and I got there about 10:45 and it was already hot, hot, hot!! I wanted to get there kinda early one b/c they had mentioned a heat advisory for this weekend and two to hopefully avoid the families and kids since it was a Saturday. Well I was successful on both but man I could not believe how freakin hot it was!! I had to get into the pool about every 10-15 min to cool off.

Lindy and I have also been trying to walk a lot this last month since she moved in behind me and we always go around 11pm at night b/c even then its still around 85-90* outside. I was actually surprised how many other people we see walking or running that time of night just to avoid the heat. Last night I was looking at the weather on my phone and it was 90* at midnight but felt like 98* w/ humidity at 56% .....Thats nuts!!

I hope we actually have a fall season since we didn't really have spring....I'm ready for some cooler....not

Look she's smiling!!

Isn't she just the cutest thing E.V.E.R!!!! Oh I just fell in love with her!!! She gets to come back to visit us next month and I am super excited!! I cant wait to see how much she has grown and changed!!!

Last Saturday I threw my very first wedding shower...and possibly my last! Man oh man was that stressful!! I never knew how much went into throwing a shower.... Luckily I had my bestie Lindy there to help me out as my!! We were on a pretty strict budget of trying not to spend too much money. We decided to make the invites which was fun and they turned out really nice.

Lindy and I both had last Friday off which was super busy of running around and baking and getting things ready. We decided to make Red Velvet Cupcakes which I found a tweaked box recipe here. It turned out really tasty however I would suggest just using a standard cream cheese frosting recipe not the one they have b/c it turned out to be a bit runny. We also just did a fruit tray and some pinwheels and chips and dip. It turned out really well I think.... Afterwards I was exhausted but it was worth it to be able to do that for one of my girls.

The eating a yummy cupcake!!

I really want to thank Lindy for all her help and for just being her!! I could not have done it with out her!! I also want to thank Brad's mom b/c she let us borrow all her party stuffs, punch bowl, plates, and serving dishes.

New Job

So I got a new job about a month ago....thats pretty much why my blog has not been updated.... I am now the Registration Coordinator in the ER at the Moore Hospital. I am back to working 5/8hr days like a regular!!! But oh well it is just a step I feel like I needed to take in my life at this time. The only downfall is I work 2p-1030p and Brad usually works 7a-4p :O( so we don't get to hang out as much and we haven't had a day off together in f.o.r.e.v.e.r but other then that I enjoy it for the most part. I originally started out at Moore so it kinda feels like full circle.

So thats what I've been up to I will try not to slack in the blog department as much as I have lately.

Bean & the fountain

So brad found this awesome park right up the street from us and  he has started to take Charlie Bean up there to play fetch. They even have a doggie water fountain!! He's so cute!!

You say Tomato, I say Shut up - a love story

In this hilarious and ultimately moving memoir, comedians and real-life married couple Annabelle Gurwitch and Jeff Kahn prove that in marriage, all you need is love—and a healthy dose of complaining, codependence, and pinot noir.

After thirteen years of being married, Annabelle and Jeff have found “We’re just not that into us.” Instead of giving up, they’ve held their relationship together by ignoring conventional wisdom and fostering a lack of intimacy, by using parenting as a competitive sport, and by dropping out of couples therapy. The he-said/she-said chronicle of their intense but loving marriage includes an unsentimental account of the medical odyssey that their family embarked upon after their infant son was diagnosed with VACTERL, a very rare series of birth defects. Annabelle and Jeff’s unforgivingly raw, uproariously funny story is sure to strike both laughter and terror in the hearts of all couples (not to mention every single man or woman who is contemplating the connubial state).
Serving up equal parts sincerity and cynicism, You Say Tomato, I Say Shut Up is a laugh-out-loud must-read for everyone who has come to realize that being “in love” can only get you so far.
On Cohabitation
He says: “Within days of Annabelle’s arrival, I became very aware that she demanded solitude and had the housekeeping habits of a feral animal.”

She says: “The guy had some sort of nudity radar. When I would take my clothes off for even a second, Jeff would be in front of me cheering as if he’d scored box seats at FenwayPark.”
On Sex
He says: “I want to have sex every day, but Annabelle only wants to do it once a week. So we compromise: we have sex once a week.”

She says“Jeff says talking about money before you have sex is a turnoff, but it’s only a turnoff if you’re talking about not having money. Talking about money before you have sex when you have money is actually a turn-on.”
On Pregnancy
He says“For God’s sake, all I wanted to do was have sex without a condom for a little while; now we were moments from bringing a new life into the world!”

She says: “My ass was expanding so fast it was like a Starbucks franchise. On every corner of my ass there was a new branch of ass opening up.”

This book was hilarious!! Good Read!!

A week in review...

We traveled over to Brad's mom's house in Shawnee America to celebrate his sister Rebecca's birthday!! I got to make the birthday cake - which is pictured above - I am a little bit proud of how it turned out. It was a fresh strawberry cake with cream cheese frosting....YUM!! It was a big hit!!! I got the recipe here.

Brad's mom has a pond out next to her house and this is one of the two fish that he caught out there. I am always so proud of him and his catches!!

Arrived at work right when med.flight was taking off...I have made a lot of decisions and changes in the last month regarding my job (I will share in a separate post) and school. I've decided to suck it up and go to nursing school b/c one day I want to be on med.flight as a nurse! So I have enrolled in Chemistry (YUCK!) for next semester...bit nervous but I can do it. Also on Tuesday we unfortunately had a traumatic full arrest come into the ER from a bad car wreck. However I did get to watch the doctor do a pericardial synthesis. Which is where the Dr. take a long needle and draws fluid or blood out of the sac around the amazing!! I love the heart its my favorite organ...weird I know.

When there's something strange in the neighborhood....Who ya gonna call....GHOSTBUSTERS!!!
Brad and I were sitting at a light when we saw this truck... I just had to take a picture...b/c how often do you actually see the ghostbusters car!! If you notice there are lights on the top and some weird antenna thingy. SO RANDOM!!

If you know me at all you will know that I am somewhat anti.child. I don't care if you have them I just rather not be around..thanks... However there is one baby that I just love! Miss Kennedy! She belongs to one of the girls I work with....and I got the pleasure of babysitting her Friday night! She is the best, smartest, cutest kid EVER!!! I was actually bummed out when she went to bed at 7:15 b/c I wanted to play more!!!

Brad and I went up to the mall and they had a robotic surgery display out and you got to try it out... I totally kicked ass!! The first pic shows the area that you were working with and those rubber bands were like the small ones you put on your braces. The middle picture again shows the robotic little arms... and then the third picture shows where you sit and manipulate the was awesome...I took those tiny rubber bands and tied them in a knot and then undid it and it was so easy!! and fun!! and cool!!!

We went to go visit my daddy for father's day!! He's such a funny guy and I just love him soooo... MUCH!!!

Well that was my week in a with photos included ... hope I didn't bore ya too much!!

Summer Shoes

My favorite summer shoes are my Chaco sandals that I bought while in Colorado last summer. At first I was hesitant b/c they were around $70 for a fancy pair of flip flops....but after the sales man advised me of the lifetime guarantee....even if my dog chews through the strap...and the fact that I can tighten down the strap and hike in them....even though rivers.....not that I do that often but you never know. I decided to pay the money and buy them. Best shoes I have bought!! They are so comfortable!!! I even wore them when we went down to Dallas for the opening OU football game and my feet didn't hurt one bit!

Brad's favorite summer shoes are his Keens...He swears they are the most comfortable thing ever!! His dad gave him a pair two summers ago and then I bought him a new pair last year. At first I really didn't like the look of them....but they have grown on me. He likes them b/c they are like a sandal/tennis shoe and even though they are leather you can still get them wet and it doesn't hurt them at all.

Do you have a summer favorite??

Are you there vodka?

When Chelsea Handler needs to get a few things off her chest, she appeals to a higher power -- vodka. You would too if you found out that your boyfriend was having an affair with a Peekapoo or if you had to pretend to be honeymooning with your father in order to upgrade to first class. Welcome to Chelsea's world -- a place where absurdity reigns supreme and a quick wit is the best line of defense.

Oh my goodness this was a funny, funny book!! Easy light read that makes you literally laugh out loud, I'm even trying to convince Brad to read it!! I can't wait to read some of her other books!!

The Wrong Mother

Sally Thorning is watching the news with her husband when she hears an unexpected name-Mark Bretherick. It's a name she shouldn't know, but last year Sally treated herself to a secret vacation-away from her hectic family life-and met a man. After their brief affair, the two planned to never meet again. But now, Mark's wife and daughter are dead-and the safety of Sally's own family is in doubt.

I will admit that I totally judged this book by the cover!! Who wouldn't!! I happen to see it at Target one day and read just that lil bit I posted above and decided to buy it. This book seemed so much longer then it was and not b/c it was boring by any means....but b/c it was so jammed packed with action. Like within the first 20 pages the main character gets pushed in front of a bus!! Great psychological thriller!!!!!

Skedee, Oklahoma

Have you heard of it??? I'm sure you haven't ....this is where it is located...

It's not on any major highway .....and according to Wikipedia it's town's total area is 0.1 square mile!!

That is a small town!!!

Now why would I blog about this little town w/ the average annual income is $17,000... Well I was telling my friend over at Thoughts Right Now  that I thought old abandoned properties were interesting with all the history that is occasionally left behind. She then told me about this website called Abandoned Oklahoma

Again you'r probably still wondering why Skedee out of all the places on that website ...well I've been there...ONCE!! When I was going to school in Stillwater, OK -about 1999- we would go on country road drives....we would find a dirt road (which was easy to do) and just take it out of town...sometimes ending up in Kansas w/o even realizing in until we found a major HWY and headed back home.  Well one time on a drive we had to stop b/c there was a cow in the middle of the we inched around it we noticed the small town so we drove down the one street that contained houses just looking we drove by this one house a pig....YES A PIG...comes running out of a driveway chasing us like a dog would!!! And that is why I remember Skedee, Oklahoma!!!

this was the school at one time
If you look that check # 637 was dated in 1970!!!
I think this is an awesome photograph!!

I'm one of those....

One of those crazy dog people that loves to dress my little fur.babies up and then take their pictures!!

The shirt says it all.....
"what the heck mom....are you serious"
"alright take your picture"

Casey Duke ....aka Chubbs... Lives for cookies (dog biscuits) so much so that we actually can not say the work "cookie" in our house unless we are serious about giving him one. The code letters are "C-O".....So when I came across this t.shirt at target I just had to get it for him!!!

"Only because I love you mom...I will pose perfectly for this picture"

Cooper is my very first dog in my adult life. I've had him since he was about 10 wks old (he is now 10 1/2yrs) and his goal in life is to be next to me and does whatever I ask of him. He is my soul puppy!

My dogs are my with it! :O)

Toodle - oo!
