New Job

So I got a new job about a month ago....thats pretty much why my blog has not been updated.... I am now the Registration Coordinator in the ER at the Moore Hospital. I am back to working 5/8hr days like a regular person...boo!!! But oh well it is just a step I feel like I needed to take in my life at this time. The only downfall is I work 2p-1030p and Brad usually works 7a-4p :O( so we don't get to hang out as much and we haven't had a day off together in f.o.r.e.v.e.r but other then that I enjoy it for the most part. I originally started out at Moore so it kinda feels like full circle.

So thats what I've been up to I will try not to slack in the blog department as much as I have lately.

TIMmmm.BER!

So we had to say good.bye to some more trees last weekend. As some of you know we were hit hard about 3 winters ago with an insane ice storm. After that storm we removed 3 trees from the front yard and one from the side of the house along w/ one from the back yard. Well we again had an ugly snow storm this year and we had to remove more trees from the front and one more is going to have to go but the electric company will have to remove it since the branches pretty much rest on a wire. Here are pictures in order from the first very bad ice storm to this year and then to last weekend with them removing the last of the crooked pine tress.

Day vs Night

So things are changing...this bad economy has finally hit lil o' Norman. The ER doctors have decided to cut back one of the doctors shifts because our census has been low over the past few months. So since my doctors shift (4p-1a) is the main one affected I was a bit nervous about my job.....well thankfully I did not lose my job but it has completely changed....My current shift is 4p-1a Thur -Sunday . I am now going to 9-5 rotating every other weekend off. Most people would love this shift...I on the other hand am a bit disappointed...I really love working nights!! The people and atmosphere are soooooo....much different!! Not just staff but also the patients are different. At night you get a lot more crazy drunks and weird situations then you do during the daytime hours. But it won't be forever I hopefully will be going back to school in the fall and  I will have to change my schedule and who knows what will happen then...only time will tell.

Long Live the Beast...Hello Zippy!!

So I'm behind on blogging about the loss of the longest relationship in my adult life...The Selling of the BEAST

The Beast was a 1995 chevy Tahoe - 2 door 4x4.....she was awesome especially when I first got her back in the summer of 2000. I was currently living in Stillwater, OK when I begged my parents to let me trade in my '94 Nissan Sentra  for the beast w/ 64k -- Having it in Stillwater was a lot of fun.....driving around on all the dirt roads and the mud puddles!!! The beast went all the way to Jacksonville, FL  (only to have the air conditioner compressor thing go out somewhere in the SW part of Oklahoma on the way home)  and all along the gulf coast .... down to Austin, TX and Dallas a little more then a handful of times.... The beast was with me for a few months shy of 10 years. I ended up selling her to a guy Brad knew through work -- She had 213k!!! Yep two -hundred and thirteen thousand miles on a chevy motor!!!

I learned to live without when it came to the Beast....live w/o air conditioning for the last 7 Oklahoma summers (wow - just did the math on that didn't realize I had gone that long) .... live w/o any form of music in my vehicle since about 4 years ago when my car was broken into at my apartment and they took my crappy old cd player w/ my disc 1 of Dave Matthews at Red Rocks (still kinda pissed about losing the CD) - I just never felt the need to spend the money on a new one.....I learned to live w/o being able to lock my doors the last year b/c the driver door hung funny and when I locked my doors especially when it was cold out I wouldn't be able to unlock them....It was time to let her go and get something more reliable.....I was actually surprised how emotional I got when they came and picked her up and took her away from my house never to be seen again...I cried...its pathetic I know..

Welcome...Zip, Zippy, Zipper

She is a 2008 chevy Aveo5 and I love her!!! My bestie Lindy Lou has a white one and I liked hers so much that I decided to go and get one...This is my very first car in my name alone!! Brad found it online (this is from the actual add...actual car!!) and I went yesterday (Monday) just to check it out on a whim. I ended up putting on my big girl panties and making the decision on my very own (no help from Brad or my mom) to make the deal!! It really felt awesome!! It has low miles, gets great gas mileage, it feels way bigger on the inside then it look on the out...it has air conditioner and a stereo (which I'm going to upgrade to be able to play my iPhone)...it's so economical!!! and its MY VERY OWN!! I chose the name Zippy b/c thats how I feel driving it come paired to the beast...even though the engine is half the power of the beast b/c of its size I feel that I'm just zipping around town...

Tootles,

On a side note I'm sad to report that someone bought the beast and ended up wrecking it this past Friday...rolling it 3 times.. the beast will never ride again :tear: however the driver left pretty much unharmed.

Praying for Ben

I happen to notice the button above on one of the blogs I follow Adorably Distracted and I clicked on it...It directed me to Ben & Katie which then took me on an hour long adventure through the journey of the last 7 moths of their lives.. They were involved in a serious car accident which has left Ben with the task of recovery from a brain injury...The blog was started at the point of the accident by and family member and is now updated by his wife Katie. Katie has got to be one of the strongest women I have come across...She has taken control of both her and he husbands life decisions with complete faith in God and his journey for them. It is amazing b/c I am the same age as her and could not imagine the obstacles that she has had to endure since their life was flipped upside down while on the way to dinner one night. It just makes me realize how much I have to be thankful for and how everything can change in the blink of an eye!!

As some of you know me personally - you know that I do not vocalize my spirituality out loud... I believe it is a private matter b/w God and me. However I feel strongly connected to this story b/c  my father was involved in a serious car accident when he was a youngster in college. He too was in the Army like Ben and he suffered a serious brain injury only to recovery and meet my mom years later and have me. My father is an amazing man!! Even to this day he always see the bright side of things and is always cracking a joke!! This last year was a trying one for me as well b/c we had to make a decision to place him in a long term care facility..he calls it the hotel... it was a tough decision for my mother and I but it was the best one I think we have made in a long time...he has tons of friends and has a little lady named Ida that sits at his table that will only allow him to open her milk carton -- she won't even allow her own daughter...shes says "no I want Charlie to do it" cracks me up!!!

It's stories like Ben & Katie's and my dad's that make me realize there is a higher being...through it all both Katie and my dad have stayed faithful in their beliefs... beliefs that would be questioned in those type of circumstances ...my mom and I always joke that in the hierarchy it goes - God - Jesus - My dad ... anytime I go to her with problems she says "I'll have your dad pray for you...he's prayers always get answered"

If you happen to have time.... read their journey...if not all I ask is that you say a little prayer for them.

Trash...You think we would learn by now

So it never fails....trash is full....not taken out at proper time...everyone gets a bit lazy now and then...unless you have dogs...then they remind you that you are only setting yourself up for disappointment...and a mess to clean up!

Today while I was taking a nap Brad decided to run and get something to eat...well instead of putting the dogs in their houses (crate) he left them out and the trash was unattended ...  I got up right when he came home to find the dogs had gotten into it...I have NO idea what was in there...other than coffee grounds & fast food leftovers...or for how long but Charlie ended up throwing up and Casey & Cooper are just acting like they don't feel well at all...hopefully out of all 5 of us ....we all learned our lessons...even if your gone for less then 10 min its enough time for 3 smart doggies to get into trouble and leave us w/ a mess to clean up.

I'm baaaaaack

So I know its been a long time since I've written anything and the only thing I currently have to blame is Farm Town....an application on facebook has taken over my life! If your not aware of it then don't ask I wouldn't want anyone else to be subject to this type of addiction.

I did finish my book which I will review tomorrow sometime....my parents have moved as of late last week....and let me tell you what a pain in my (insert word here) that was/is....my mother I have decided is a hoarder. She has Rubbermaid tubs of nothing but mail ---

omg a pt just walked by and farted ...so disgustingly stinky --- I'm about to vomit

Anyways back to my mother and her junk. They went from a 2000sqft house to a 1bed apt. and instead of cleaning stuff out b/f the move she decided to take it w/ her so now she has an apt full of boxes and 2 yes 2 storage units. Now I will give her a bit of a break b/c they haven't' moved in 20yrs and I do understand how things can accumulate over time but my goodness... and it is so overwhelming to me b/c I try to be the opposite. I went over there last Friday and tried to help unpack and there is no organization to it at all. So I ended up unpacking a few boxes (throwing out a few things I know she won't miss while I had the chance) and then I was done. I don't know about anyone else but that just gave me too much anxiety ... too much stuff I just didn't know where to start...makes me freak out a bit.

So other than that nothing else has been going on... So the word on the street right now is that Michael Jackson died of cardiac arrest -- technically it hasn't been confirmed but TMZ did say that he has died...Normally I wouldn't write about this but the thing is, is that its all the buzz around the ER right now....staff is turning on the news and trying to look it up on the internet...I understand he is the king of pop and some sort of an icon but I don't know I think its weird how people can get upset when famous people pass on ... as if they knew him or something...I guess I've never been that star struck.

Rolled Into One

Where do I start... Okay, okay I have been majorly slacking in the whole blog department and I do apologize to my blogger friends -- however even though I have not been blogging I want you to know that I still keep up w/ all of you :0)

D-Day Destruction

I fell off the wagon and have been off for a week now -- I stopped taking my diet pills which then made me super sleepy all last week due to caffeine withdrawal and the rainy weather and pms did not help that situation at all either. I did not go to the gym one time - I ate crap all week and felt like poo!

Tomorrow I am starting over -- I'm going to the store buying salad and fruit and good healthy stuffs -- I'm going to the gym and not ... I repeat NOT sleeping in until noon!! Plus I find I do not sleep good if I don't work out -- that alone makes me want to work out b/c I love good sleep!!

Life and tough decisions

Last week was a bit stressful for me -- it turned out that our coordinator has accepted another position within the hospital and therefor her job is now open. I have been and still am undecided on the options before me -- I am currently in a great work schedule - I only work Thur/Fri/Sat from 11a-11p -- yes it is my whole day BUT its only 3 out of 7. Well this job would be Sun - Thur 7a-3p which isn't bad at all either and I have Fri/Sat off and it includes a pretty good pay raise. It's a hard decision b/c no matter if I get this position (which I have a very strong chance of getting) or not I am wanting to go back to school in the fall -- the extra $$ would help w/ that since I am not wanting to take out any more student loans and also I am in a great need of a new set of wheels BUT it also means going back to working 5 days a week which include Sunday (I HATE working Sundays) and it would come w/ more responsibility b/c it is a management position. So I applied for it and will probably have an interview and whatever happens - happens - if its meant to be then it will.

My Mother....

So I'm sure most of you are aware of the analog change over that has started to occur. And most of us in the 21st century haven't paid any attention to it b/c we all either have satellite or cable. Well my parents are one of the few that does not have any sort of cable and still run off the antenna in the attic (they don't even have a DVD player and probably wouldn't have a VCR if I didn't beg for it my sophomore yes people my sophomore year of high school) Anyways back to the point of this - this was the conversation that just took place between my mom and I on the phone.

me - ok mom brad just got home I'm going to let you go now I think we might watch a movie (just signed up for netflix - love it)

mom - oh your dad and I are watching blah blah - i have know idea what she said

me - oh ok

mom - you know we just don't get channel 9 anymore

me - well did you hook up that converter box

mom - yes

me - and you still don't get channel 9?? thinking....humm you should be able to scan for the channels. Does it have an instruction book?

mom - yes

me - did you read it?

mom - no, but it worked fine when the guy came and hooked it up....well I still have the attic antenna hooked so it should work its b/c we don't have that HD or whatever it is.

me - no mom thats why you have the box the are cutting off the signal to the attic antenna. It doesn't matter if its hooked up or not.

mom - long pause *crickets chirping* well I'll just go buy some rabbit ears

me - no mom thats not what I'm saying - antennas aren't going to work anymore thats why you have the box.

mom - oh...long pause...well hopefully the house will sell b/f June.

me - June?? Why whats June??

mom - well thats how long the channels are holding out for the switch.

me - ok mom I gotta go now.

I am still stilling here shaking my head as I blog about this .... what does she think will happen when she moves??? That the channels will come back?? She won't need the converter box??So I guess I'm going to the city in the next week or so to hook up her TV - oh and as a side note they only got one box and they have 2 TVs she said she she just moved it from one TV to the other. kills me this woman kills me.

And for my two loving cousins that read my blog (I know your out there) I would love to hear your response to this - you can leave a comment under anonymous and just sign you name or email me!!!

Shut Up!!!....I'm Trying To Sleep

When it comes to mornings I usually don't do well right off the start. My idea of waking up is to wake up w/o an alarm and to silence from everyone. Well Brad loves to sing to me in the morning whether I'm awake yet or not and sometimes this will result in me saying some very hateful things just to get him to shut up. Well he's just as bad as me sometimes. For example last night Brad went to bed before me and so I when I went to go to bed I had put the dogs up and this is what transpired.

Brad"what are you doing?"

Me "um coming to bed" then I went to crawl into bed I accidentally touched his foot while I was trying to crawl into the bed.

Brad "STOP IT!!! STOP TOUCHING MY FOOT!!! What are you doing"
by this time I was already in bed and not touching him any longer

Me "sorry ..."
then we fought over the blanket and I decided to go sleep in the other room.

So today I was talking about last night and he doesn't remember it at all, he says he dose remember me coming to bed but not all the other stuff. Which I think is funny.... not sure why but I do :)

Girlie Girl

If you know me at all I am the kind of girl that kicks back in a t.shirt, jeans and converse. I've never been the girl that goes all out on myself on a daily basis. I do enjoying dressing up every now and then from time to time. And I use to do it a bit more back in my City Walk days. But now I find it stressful. First off I don't have any dressy clothes. I have one pair of nice heels (which I noticed are going to need to be replaced soon) and I've never been one to wear alot of make-up.

Well yesterday was Brad's granny's 75th birthday party and I needed to look nice. You know jeans a nice shirt and heels. Well I went to the mall and looked around and I couldn't find anything that fit the picture that was in my head. And mind you Brad's sister is a total girlie girl. Heels everyday, make-up and she knows how to accessorize, I on the other hand can not. And girls you know how it is you have to not compete but well I can't think of a better word. Its not that I feel threatened but you know you just don't wanna be the frumpy one - does that makes sense? I think its an inner girl thing. ANYWAYS.... so I ended up going to target and finding a shirt I had my eye on and I get it - even though its not what I remembered it looking like - but I had no choice time was ticking down I had to get home and start getting ready. I find these kind of events to be VERY stressful and I go through this every holiday or little family event that we attend. And the last couple of times I just didn't care and sported my converse and jeans. So yesterday Brad's mom even said how I looked really nice and how that I'm usually a tomboy. Which I am, always have been. I was the girl in the trees, riding bikes in the creek, picking up frogs and turtles and caterpillars as a child growing up. My mother does not wear make-up so I never had anyone teach me I had to learn out of Seventeen and YM magazines on how to apply eye shadow.

So Here is me trying to be a girlie girl...

Just A Bunch of Nothingness

Take the Pain Away
So today and yesterday I must say have been pretty crappy. I didn't feel good yesterday and spent most of the day in bed which then lead to a migraine. We had tickets to the OU/A&M basketball game which I ended up just giving to a friend b/c I felt so shitty. I feel bad b/c I guess it was a pretty good game from what I hear...which I wouldn't know I was in bed by 8:30. I tried going into work today, made it there but only stayed 16 min to be exact - my left eyeball felt as though it was going to explode out of my head so I was lucky enough to get to go home - which I slept again until about 6:30 tonight and finally woke up w/o as much pain in my noggin...now I hope I can just sleep tonight.

Money Woes
I just got paid today and my money is already gone...don't you hate it when that happens! Which I'm a bit sad about but you know that is life and the bills have to be paid.

Random
I sit here wondering whats wrong w/ my dogs b/c not only have they slept all day w/ me but they have also been sleeping all night. Even Charlie he has not asked to play w/ his ball all night!! I guess they are just as lazy as their mama.

Smell the Air
I don't know if any of you got out today or even this evening but the weather here is freaking awesome. I ran to the store around 7 and the air felt so good!! I love just breathing it in its so refreshing. I heard that we had our last cold day for the season on Wed. Which I hope it true b/c I am so ready for spring!!! And its suppose to thunderstorm on Mon which will be awesome as long as there are no tornados.

Yankee Love
I love yankee candles and I'm currently burning my favor sent (good morning) oh its such a wonderful smell!! I highly suggest it to anyone who like candles. I was thinking about investing in a Tyler candle next b.c I've almost burn through this one but I just love it so much I may just have to get another.

I'm Out
Well I'm off to sleeps...wish me luck - maybe I'll have something more interesting to blog about later :)

Young Love

So this last weekend I attended a wedding of a co-worker. While they were stating there vows to one another I was watching them and realizing how they are the picture of innocence. They are both 20 years old, they are high school sweethearts, he is in the Marines and she has never lived outside of her mother's house. And it was so exciting to watch them as they start their lives together, so fresh, no baggage and it got me thinking...

I remember when I was young, dumb, and retardley in love....many, many, moons ago.....

Now looking back at it this weekend it makes me feel old and cynical. I am now almost half way through my 28th year on this planet and I feel as though I have nothing to show for it other then 10yrs of off and on college -no degree, one failed marriage under my belt, and a crap load of debit (thanks to the ex.hubby). This is not what I thought or where I thought I would be at when I was nearing my 30's. I feel as though I'm way far behind in life. I don't own my own home, I haven't even purchased my first car yet (the beast is in my parents name). I have nothing in a savings anywhere. And even though I LOVE my job I still wouldn't call it a profession by any means.

Now don't get me wrong, I have no regrets on my past the only thing I wish I could do over again would be the school part....so much money wasted. But I think its time I really start to focus on my future and what I want. I have been lucky enough to have found love again with my Bradley so that part is taken care of. Since I've been divorced I stopped thinking so much about the future and started focusing more on the here and now. I was scared to think about the future b/c the future I had planned was no longer an option.

But now I'm ready!

I have been slowly paying off my debit. I hope to go to and finish school starting this next summer, which will still take a couple of years. One day I hope to buy myself a new car and even a house and maybe even get married again. I hope that I still have the close friends I that I have today and that my Bradley is still by my side.

Wow! I just got a rush of anxiety saying all that out loud...

I'm over it!

So last night was my one of my bff's b.days and we went out to campus corner and had dinner and drinks at Louie's (which I am so totally bummed out b/c they no longer have frozen cosmos) anyways b.f that I had met a friend from work over at Brothers for a drink while I waited for the girls and I told him that I may stop back by at the end of the night. So 12am rolls around I've only had two drinks (including the one at Brothers) and I was just sleepy and kinda getting a headache so I decided to go home and go to bed. So I text my friend and let him know I was just heading home and I was sorry - and I think it kinda upset him. You see I go to the bars like maybe once a month usually - and lately I've been going a little bit more than that the last 2 months and hanging out w/ people from work and I think I'm done. I can't do it anymore. I hate getting drunk, not that I do that every time but it does happen - it takes like 2 days for me to recover and its just not worth it to me anymore. I love the people I met at work and enjoy hanging out w/ them but all they want to do is go to the bars and happy hour and I just don't really enjoy it ALL the time - and its expensive. So I've started saying NO and I feel bad for a min or so .... but you know im just not that into it. Even w/ my girls we spend more time just hanging out and talking and watching movies or doing lunches and actually spending time w/ one another which I LOVE... nothing is more fun or relaxing then just having quality time w/ my two closest bffs.

I love my two girls Lindy and Callie they are the important ones in my life. I love all my friends don't get me wrong but w/ these two its different - we've done and still occasionally do the party like a rock stars thing and now we have moved on from the drunken stumbling nights we barely remember to appreciating each other in the day light w/o all the fancy clothes and makeup. I am and will always be there for them day or night. I hope they know that!!!

Good Bye 2008.....Hello '09

So its New Years Eve and here I am at home catching up on blogging. Yes its official - I'm old, and thats okay. I enjoy being at home in my jammies!! So Brad, Cooper, Casey, Charlie and I will bring in the new year probably playing the Price Is Right on the wii.

This year has had some good changes - first starting with me moving hospitals from the Moore campus to the Norman campus. It was the best change I could have made. I love, love, love my job. I love the atmosphere, the people are awesome and the work is easy. And with a new job has come new friends. I have met so many cool people through work. Second is we got a puppy - Mr. Charlie Bean - um what else happened - oh I finally think I've decided what I want to be when I grow up - an ER nurse, hope to return to school in the summer - Brad and I celebrated our 3 yr anniversary, which I can not believe its been that long. My cousin David came to visit us.... Those are just a few big things that fell in between day to day life in the Bridgeford home.

I hope everyone one has a safe and Happy New Year!!

Remembering Bob

I was given the bad news Sunday morning that my godfather had passed away Saturday night somewhat unexpectedly. Bob was a wonderful man and I was lucky enough to have him a part of my life growing up. He just lived next door to my parents so when I was younger I would go over there and he would let me play frogger on his computer or we would sit and talk about life and school. He went to a lot of my softball games growing up and he was Santa clause and the Easter bunny long after I knew the truth. He was the one that encouraged me to enjoy reading by giving me a book and a stuffed animal for the holidays during my pre.teen years. He was at all the major events in my life, first communion, 8th grade & high school graduation (8th grade shown above), my wedding, and every single birthday dinner up until a few years ago.

Bob was diagnosed w/ polio at the age of 5 which left him handicapped. He still pursued living an independent life by modifying his truck so that he could drive w/ his left foot. He also graduated from OU w/ an engineering degree. He never married and never had kids and was a HUGE OU football fan. He was diagnosed w/ a heart condition about 6 years back and b/c of his polio the doctors were unable to operate they only gave him a few years to live. Well he lived longer then expected and was in pretty good health considering. Bob passed away on the 27th after falling ill a week before. His mother and his sister were by his side. Even in his last moments he was thinking of others, his sister stated that he was saying "tell my friends I'm sorry I couldn't say good bye." He was the most giving, thoughtful person I ever knew and he will be missed greatly.

Do You Remember When Life Was Simple

I found this list online and it made me have a few flash backs to my childhood so I thought I'd post it to give you guys a memory jog....

When gas was $0.95 a gallon & Caller ID was a new thing.

When we called the radio station to request songs to hear off our walkmans.

When 2Pac and Biggie where alive.

When the Chicago Bulls were the best team ever.

Way back......

Get Over Here!!!! means something to you.

Hide-n-Go Seek in the dark.

Red Light, Green Light.

Heads Up 7 Up. (played this game in school a lot)

Playing Kickball & Dodgeball even Wallball.

sometimes......

i hate being a girl..... and this is one of those weeks if your a girl you know what im talking about -- the past 3 days ive woken up on the wrong side of the bed only to be annoyed through out my day. i wanna cry but i can't which is more frustrating than anything at all. nothing i do or eat or drink makes me content or happy. i have no real reason to be cranky but i am, i want to be in a good mood and i try really hard to be but it just makes me tired ...blah oh well it will past...it always does.

Change....

Today i voted in my very first presidential election!! When i walked in and got my ballot i was quite nervous, only because there was alot more to it then i had expected. Even though my state is a red state and i voted blue -- i am happy that obama is our next president of the united states and i hope that he does fulfill the change that he promises to bring.
