Shower!!

Last Saturday I threw my very first wedding shower...and possibly my last! Man oh man was that stressful!! I never knew how much went into throwing a shower.... Luckily I had my bestie Lindy there to help me out as my co.host!! We were on a pretty strict budget of trying not to spend too much money. We decided to make the invites which was fun and they turned out really nice.

Lindy and I both had last Friday off which was super busy of running around and baking and getting things ready. We decided to make Red Velvet Cupcakes which I found a tweaked box recipe here. It turned out really tasty however I would suggest just using a standard cream cheese frosting recipe not the one they have b/c it turned out to be a bit runny. We also just did a fruit tray and some pinwheels and chips and dip. It turned out really well I think.... Afterwards I was exhausted but it was worth it to be able to do that for one of my girls.

I really want to thank Lindy for all her help and for just being her!! I could not have done it with out her!! I also want to thank Brad's mom b/c she let us borrow all her party stuffs, punch bowl, plates, and serving dishes.

Bad start to the weekend....

One bonus to this new daytime schedule that I have rec'd is that every other  weekend I have 4 days off in a row!!! So for instance I work Wed - Sat ...off 2 days then work Tues - Fri....off 4 days then repeat....Have I confused you yet... anyways this is my first weekend to have the 4 days off in a row and it has started off pretty freakin crappy.!!!

Last night my friend Jessica and I had planned to go to a bar on campus to have a few beers and talk...her and I can talk about ANYTHING and everything and I am truly sad right now b/c she is having to move in 2 weeks to Indiana due to her hubby's job...so I'm trying to cram some extra Jess time in....Well I ended up having to end last night early b/c I had a massive migraine and thought I may die!! I was so freakin pissed at myself...not that I could help it but it was WAY noisy where we were and the drinks were not helping the situation and I just wanted my bed. So I mentioned her coming over tonight since Brad was working til 11. Well I woke up today my head was better but not perfect and I felt really woozy and weak...So after I ate I went back to bed and I still feel like crap!!! Not only did I have my Jess plans but I had fun errand plans today to that I did not get to accomplish...I was looking forward to taking my car to get washed...shopping for a new little rug for in front of my kitchen sink...running to target....you know fun stuffs....now I'm laying on the couch feeling like crap!! ugh!! So bummed out...even when I try that whole positive thinking its not getting me anywhere... Thank goodness Jess is able to meet me on Monday for sushi happy.hour!!

Well I think I'm going to hop in a hot shower and see if that helps...wish me luck!

So about two weeks ago my girls and I all happen to have the day off of work and school...which never seems to happen by chance...so we decided to head out of Normandy and up to Jenks, Oklahoma which is just south of Tulsa.. We had such a blast!!! We were very lucky b/c it just happened to be feeding day for the sharks!!! We also got to see the piranha, electric eel and some spitting fish feed as well. We all took tons & tons of pictures both w/ out cameras and phones... Callie and I were quite impressed with the quality of the iPhone camera!!

Pretty stuffs....forgot what they were called

this turtle weighs about 120 something lbs ... they said that its a pound for every year of it's life....so its over 100 years old!!!!!

We also got to see these lovely beavers and some otters which were the cutest little things ever ...but way too fast for our cameras!!

After all the fish watching we were quite famished so we left the aquarium in search for food for ourselves.. after driving in a complete circle we ended up at Los Cabos Mexican Grill and it was the best Mexican food I have had in a VERY long time...I so wish we had one closer to us then in Jenks...

Dear Diary....

I had so much fun last night. It was one of my best friends birthdays and I was lucky enough to get off work to join in on the celebration. We first ate at Victoria's - which happens to be our favorite place to have birthday dinners....then we headed down to see some live music performed by Mike Hosty...which I was not aware of this but he will compose a personalized birthday song!!!

What you do is you write down a few things about the birthday person and give it to him .... and then some time during the show he will call them up on stage and make up a song including the stuff about them -- its really funny....and can be embarrassing depending on what your friends write down about you...

Anyways I had such a great time laughing it up w/ my girls...I have been very blessed w/ three totally awesome girls in my life!!!

Doxie Dash '09

This year our baby Charlie Bean was in the 5th annual Dachshund Dash. We were so excited !!! We trained him by running in the parking lot across the street and also playing fetch in the house. The only thing is that he got really scared when they put him in the little box.

We will work on that for next year!!

Once the race began the dogs on either side of him crossed in front of him along w/ their owners and Charlie did not see Brad right away, but once he did they were off...he was not even distracted w/ the other dogs running around him!!

I was quit impressed!

Charlie came in 4th in his heat out of 8! I think thats pretty darn good especially since this was his first race and he raced against Rufus the Grand Champion from the last two yrs! We had lots'o people show up to cheer little Bean Butt on. Both my parents and Brad's mom and step dad along with his granny and then a few of our friends -- It was a pretty fun afternoon to say the least :o)

Sweat Shop

So the doxie dash as you all know is this Sat and we decided to make t-shirts to wear. Well this started out as a fun and exciting thing for me and my girls to get together and do....Boy was I wrong!!! So last week Monday we all went to hobby lobby picked out our shirts - got some cool stencils and some paint and headed home to get started. We got home turned up the music to hits of the 90's and began.

We painted the word team on two shirts and peeled off the stencils to admire our fine work only to see that it looked like crap. The paint had bled under the stencil . So the next day Lindy came over and back to hobby lobby we went -- and we went for iron on's -- which worked out SO much better -- we also got a cute paw print stamp -- so back home we went to work for hours -- this was a bit more complex and time consuming then I thought it would be. We got the lettering and paw print done on the girls shirts the first day and then yesterday Lindy cam over again and we got all the lettering done and I got the front of 2 1/2 shirts done. We decided to just paint a doxie on the front -- the most time consuming thing is the paint b/c we have to do like 4 layers to get it to look right!! Anyways I've now learned my lesson and if little bean butt makes it in again next year I think I'm just going to pay to have shirts made :0)

Norman Music Festival

Yesterday I was lucky enough to have the day off of work and got to go to the Norman Music Festival. It was so much fun!!!!! What they did was they blocked off Main St. in downtown Norman and they had 2 large stages on opposite ends of the street and then they also had bands in the Sooner Theater and the Red Room and behind Dream Concepts. And you just wonder around listening to all the local bands and eating fair food and drinkin beer. There was a pretty good size group of us so we would sometimes split up for a bit and get back together. Afterwords we went down to New York Pizza on campus and ate some yummy pizza and then went home at 10:30.

So I'm sure most of you bloggers have stumbled across the alphabet game thats going around. Basically you get a letter from another blogger and then you list your top 10 items starting with that letter. Snappy (The Lopez Family) was kind enough to give me the letter "M" so here is my list in no particular order.

Money, money, money.....MONEY

Nothing makes you feel better then knowing you can have the freedom of a load of cash in your pocket to do whatever you please. However I tend to find that when I go shopping looking to actually spend I can't find anything I want to buy. Yet if I go when I'm broke I walk out with a list about a mile long...strange.

Murder

As I've mentioned before I love death, MURDER, kill shows. I don't know why I just do. In fact I have ID. (Investigative Discovery) on in the background right now and they are talking about a guy who had a box of noses under his bed....now how does that not peak your interest.

Myspace

I can't help it! It's a slight addiction. I love looking into peoples lives and all their pictures. I hate it when people put their pages on private. I fill out the stupid surveys when I'm bored and change my layout on a regular basis. And everyone that is my friend is someone I actually know in real life other than about a handful of famous music peeps.

I love getting sucked into good movies. Sometimes I wish they didn't end. However the ending is a big deal for me - I hate it when they just stop...and your left there like what the ......

I think the medical world is my passion. I have webMD.com bookmarked on my toolbar. There is just so much to learn and its an ever changing environment.

Mondays

I know most of the world hates Mondays because it is when the typical work week starts all over again. BUT for me and my girls who do not work typical work jobs Mondays are our get together days. I'm actually more likely to hang out with my gals on a Monday then a Friday. Love you girls!!

Macaroni

Pasta in general I don't care the size or the shape give it to me all!! It has got to be my all time favorite dish. I've never met a pasta I didn't like.

Music

Music is awesome!! Especially when you find that one song that fits whatever is going on in your life at that time... I love to jam out in my house when I'm home alone and dance around with my dogs.

I'm over it!

So last night was my one of my bff's b.days and we went out to campus corner and had dinner and drinks at Louie's (which I am so totally bummed out b/c they no longer have frozen cosmos) anyways b.f that I had met a friend from work over at Brothers for a drink while I waited for the girls and I told him that I may stop back by at the end of the night. So 12am rolls around I've only had two drinks (including the one at Brothers) and I was just sleepy and kinda getting a headache so I decided to go home and go to bed. So I text my friend and let him know I was just heading home and I was sorry - and I think it kinda upset him. You see I go to the bars like maybe once a month usually - and lately I've been going a little bit more than that the last 2 months and hanging out w/ people from work and I think I'm done. I can't do it anymore. I hate getting drunk, not that I do that every time but it does happen - it takes like 2 days for me to recover and its just not worth it to me anymore. I love the people I met at work and enjoy hanging out w/ them but all they want to do is go to the bars and happy hour and I just don't really enjoy it ALL the time - and its expensive. So I've started saying NO and I feel bad for a min or so .... but you know im just not that into it. Even w/ my girls we spend more time just hanging out and talking and watching movies or doing lunches and actually spending time w/ one another which I LOVE... nothing is more fun or relaxing then just having quality time w/ my two closest bffs.


I love my two girls Lindy and Callie they are the important ones in my life. I love all my friends don't get me wrong but w/ these two its different - we've done and still occasionally do the party like a rock stars thing and now we have moved on from the drunken stumbling nights we barely remember to appreciating each other in the day light w/o all the fancy clothes and makeup. I am and will always be there for them day or night. I hope they know that!!!

the busiest weekend ....

so my cousin from cleveland came down last thur morning and as much as i love love LOVE having him here.... i am tired.... i did more these last few days then i have in a super duper long time.

thursday - dave came in we went to the barry switzer center and the ou field -- did a bit of shopping -- then we went and watched a movie at my friends new home.






friday - went a played a round of put put and then went to eat on campus at victorias and then to the deli for some music, drinking and fun.





saturday - football, football, football --- we stayed around the house most of the day then headed up to campus for the ou game --- which was a blast our seats were awesome!!! all the action happened in the 1st qtr and it was all right in front of us!!







sunday - my parents came down to visit and eat and then we went to the thunder game - which i had a lot more fun at then i thought i would -- the game was really close especially at the end and then we WON! are seats were super high up but it was still really cool -- then we came home to play some wii.





monday - had to get up early to take dave to the airport and brad and i were truly sad to see him leave -- i do hope hope had just as much fun as we did.
