So as you know we got hit w/ a lovely snow/ice storm the last two days. And I have been lucky enough to have it happen during my scheduled days off.

Both yesterday and tonight they have tried to call me into work which pisses me the fuck off. If I was scheduled to work I would be there. I went to work during the last ice storm, made it there on time AND had no power for 3 of those days at my house. Well now since everyone else decided to call in they are trying to get me to come in. BUT we have PRNs -- those are peeps that are on call and are who you call to cover shifts....ahhhh....and I feel bad when I say no. But I'm not scheduled to work!! And my bosses keep saying "Well we can't make you come in......" Uggg...its just kinda runied my weekend you know. And this is the first snow/ice storm ever that I didn' t have to work.

Talk About Hitting the Fan

So I just got home from day 2 out of 4 work days --- yes I made the mistake of trading work days w/ the other girl that works 12hrs so that she could go to Dallas for the weekend, which means I'm working 4/12's in a row .... ugh I need to learn to say "NO"

First off I came to the conclusion that yesterday was National Ride In an Ambulance Day. We got hit w/ 30 ambulances from 7a -7p (including one med.flight). 11 of those I personally receipted within 2 hrs. I was so thankful when 3pm came around so I could go to the front desk. And they just kept coming in all night long both from the front and back.

So today I pull into work and already see 3 ambulances in the bay and think -- I can't do it again. I come in pull up the tracker and its not bad at all. If fact the day was so slow I ended up reading a bit of my book. Everything was peaceful until about 10pm. Then as the old saying goes.....

The shit hit the fan!

We got slammed.... we had 18 patients check in with in 56 min! And 7 of them were ambulances!! There was a car wreck that brought in most of them and then a dog bite and some other things I don't even know to be honest.

Well anyways I only have two interesting stories to come from all of these people - you would think that I would have more...right?

~ Yesterday there was a motorcycle accident a guy and his wife were on the motorcycle and either they pulled out in front of a car or the car pulled out into the intersection in front of them - I didn't get the whole story but anyways this girl was freaking lucky!!! She was the passenger on the back of the bike and she was NOT wearing a helmet!! The paramedics said that she was found 2oft from the accident and all she had was road rash!! Thats it!! Can you believe it!! No broken bones - no head injuries!!! She walked out of there. She was actually the med.flight that we had come in. However I heard that her husband was not as lucky -- he got med.flight to OU Medical, which is usually not good.

Side note: We are a level 2 trauma center. There is only one level 1 trauma center in the state of Oklahoma which is OU medical so for him to be sent there means it was probably pretty bad.

~ So I mentioned earlier that there was a dog bite that was brought into tonight and it was pretty bad. I guess it was a pit and the kid was 8 and it was their dog. I don't know what happened to cause the dog to attack but I do know the injuries.

I hate dog bites b/c I'm such a dog lover...and we've had a alot lately.

All his injuries were to his left arm. he had about 4 deep puncture wounds. One of which the Dr. stated was so deep it appeared that the dogs tooth scratched the bone. His arm was broken in away that the bones were overlapping each other. They were going to have to put him under so the Ortho. doctor could go in an clean it REALLY good. With doge bites you always worry of infection b/c of all the germs in their mouth. And since these bites were so deep there is a risk of infection in the bone. And the amazing thing is, is that this kid was not crying at all -- I remember when my dog bit me when I was trying to break up a fight and I had to go to the ER and I was bawling and hyperventilating and everything --- and I was 20 years old --- this kid was freaking 8!!

Well I'm off to sleep....maybe I'll have something exiting in over the weekend.

A Day In History

Yesterday will be put down as the first time in history that .........I ever cooked a HUGE meal which included a turkey!!! I bet you guys were thinking I was going to talk about the swearing in of the first African American President..That was exciting too...I watched it all day!

Back to my bird....

So I had my parents come down for dinner yesterday and I cooked my turkey that I had rec'd as a Thanksgiving gift from the hospital and let me tell you I was quite nervous. You see I can bake...Not cook! So I got up early and I baked a cheese cake - from scratch, even the crust - and then the bird went into the oven. I also made broccoli, rice and cheese casserole for the first time too. And it all turned out FABULOUS! I was quite proud of myself! However it was freaking exhausting...I was ready for a nap by the time my parents showed up!

And as a side note The Boy did help me clean up the house while I was cooking and I appreciated it very much!!

Young Love

So this last weekend I attended a wedding of a co-worker. While they were stating there vows to one another I was watching them and realizing how they are the picture of innocence. They are both 20 years old, they are high school sweethearts, he is in the Marines and she has never lived outside of her mother's house. And it was so exciting to watch them as they start their lives together, so fresh, no baggage and it got me thinking...

I remember when I was young, dumb, and retardley in love....many, many, moons ago.....

Now looking back at it this weekend it makes me feel old and cynical. I am now almost half way through my 28th year on this planet and I feel as though I have nothing to show for it other then 10yrs of off and on college -no degree, one failed marriage under my belt, and a crap load of debit (thanks to the ex.hubby). This is not what I thought or where I thought I would be at when I was nearing my 30's. I feel as though I'm way far behind in life. I don't own my own home, I haven't even purchased my first car yet (the beast is in my parents name). I have nothing in a savings anywhere. And even though I LOVE my job I still wouldn't call it a profession by any means.

Now don't get me wrong, I have no regrets on my past the only thing I wish I could do over again would be the school much money wasted. But I think its time I really start to focus on my future and what I want. I have been lucky enough to have found love again with my Bradley so that part is taken care of. Since I've been divorced I stopped thinking so much about the future and started focusing more on the here and now. I was scared to think about the future b/c the future I had planned was no longer an option.

But now I'm ready!

I have been slowly paying off my debit. I hope to go to and finish school starting this next summer, which will still take a couple of years. One day I hope to buy myself a new car and even a house and maybe even get married again. I hope that I still have the close friends I that I have today and that my Bradley is still by my side.

Wow! I just got a rush of anxiety saying all that out loud...

I'm over it!

So last night was my one of my bff's b.days and we went out to campus corner and had dinner and drinks at Louie's (which I am so totally bummed out b/c they no longer have frozen cosmos) anyways b.f that I had met a friend from work over at Brothers for a drink while I waited for the girls and I told him that I may stop back by at the end of the night. So 12am rolls around I've only had two drinks (including the one at Brothers) and I was just sleepy and kinda getting a headache so I decided to go home and go to bed. So I text my friend and let him know I was just heading home and I was sorry - and I think it kinda upset him. You see I go to the bars like maybe once a month usually - and lately I've been going a little bit more than that the last 2 months and hanging out w/ people from work and I think I'm done. I can't do it anymore. I hate getting drunk, not that I do that every time but it does happen - it takes like 2 days for me to recover and its just not worth it to me anymore. I love the people I met at work and enjoy hanging out w/ them but all they want to do is go to the bars and happy hour and I just don't really enjoy it ALL the time - and its expensive. So I've started saying NO and I feel bad for a min or so .... but you know im just not that into it. Even w/ my girls we spend more time just hanging out and talking and watching movies or doing lunches and actually spending time w/ one another which I LOVE... nothing is more fun or relaxing then just having quality time w/ my two closest bffs.

I love my two girls Lindy and Callie they are the important ones in my life. I love all my friends don't get me wrong but w/ these two its different - we've done and still occasionally do the party like a rock stars thing and now we have moved on from the drunken stumbling nights we barely remember to appreciating each other in the day light w/o all the fancy clothes and makeup. I am and will always be there for them day or night. I hope they know that!!!

Lets see this week is going to rock b/c I'm only working a day and half.... YIPPY - I took off tomorrow night for the OU game -- GO SOONERS!! -- then I work on Friday and off on Sat again for a wedding and it turns out to be one of my bff's b.days as luck would have it so I hope to hang w/ her Saturday night.

So I have to figure out something w/ Charlie. He seems to get bored when he's in his house (crate) on the days that Brad and I work and are gone most of the day. He has ripped up 3beds. The last one was a down pillow, which was a mess there were little feathers EVERYWHERE! So against Brad's advise I got him another pillow for his house today and tomorrow when I go to work I'm going to try something new - One I'm going to try my very bestest to walk him 30 min b/f work -- Cesar from dog whisper says and hour but since he's so little I'm only going to do 30min and see how that goes. -- I am also going to put cream cheese in his kong toy and hope that keeps him occupied while we are gone. I will update you on his progress.

So my new thing lately is to bake cookies - don't know why but it is - last week i made chocolate chip and this week I am making sugar w/ butter cream frosting or something like that. I find it fun and now I have time to do that and my other chores. :) Next I think I might make some blueberry muffins or a cake. (BTW I make them from scratch no box stuff here )

New shows that have my attention - Manhunters on A&E. Its where the U.S. Marshalls go and hunt down and capture the bad people - I love it - Roxy is my hero (shes the only chick). Life and times of Tim - is on HBO and the season has ended but you may be able to catch it in reruns - its just a random dumb cartoon about Tim and these weird situations that he gets into. You just have to see it. Nip/Tuck has been recorded new season started last night but I have yet to watch it but I'm sure it will be good. Oh and I can't forget The City on MTV. Whitney's spin off from the Hills - yep I ain't scared to admit I watch it... HA!

Well thats all for now!
